Description:
This project investigates changes in cognitive function associated with anesthesia and major colorectal surgery in patients managed according to the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is used to assess cortical hemodynamic responses associated with cognitive tasks. By integrating perioperative clinical variables with neuroimaging and cognitive assessments, the study aims to better characterize the relationship between surgical procedures, anesthesia-related factors, and postoperative cognitive function.
