Effects of Auditory–Visual Integration on Listening Effort and Brain Activity in Hearing-Aid Users: A Neuroimaging and Behavioral Investigation

Supporting Agency: TÜBİTAK 1002 – Short-Term R&D Funding Program
Principal Investigator (PI): H. Mecit Karaca
Project Team: H. O. Keleş
Project Period: 2026–2027

Description:
This project examines how auditory and visual information integration influences listening effort and brain activity in hearing-aid users. Neuroimaging and behavioral measurements are combined to investigate the cognitive demands associated with speech perception under different sensory conditions. The project aims to provide objective neurophysiological measures of listening effort and to improve understanding of how visual information contributes to auditory processing in individuals using hearing aids.
