Comparison of Frontal Hemodynamic Responses and Electrical Brain Activity During Dual-Task Performance in Individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Healthy Controls

Supporting Agency: Ankara University, Scientific Research Projects (BAP) – Guided Project
Principal Investigator (PI): H. O. Keleş
Project Period: 2025–2027

Description:
This project investigates cortical and electrophysiological responses associated with dual-task performance in individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and healthy controls. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and electrophysiological measurements are used to examine brain activity during tasks requiring simultaneous cognitive and motor processing. The study aims to determine how COPD may influence cognitive-motor interaction, frontal cortical oxygenation, and neural resource allocation during increased task demands.
