Comparative Analysis of Inter-Brain Synchronization According to Social Context and Interaction Type in High-Functioning Adults with Autism Using fNIRS Hyperscanning

Supporting Agency: Ankara University, Scientific Research Projects (BAP)
Principal Investigator (PI): H. O. Keleş
Project Period: 2026–2029

Description:
This project investigates inter-brain synchronization during social interaction in high-functioning adults with autism using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) hyperscanning. Simultaneous brain activity from two interacting individuals is recorded to examine how social context and different forms of interaction influence interpersonal neural synchronization. The project aims to characterize neural mechanisms underlying real-time social interaction and to identify differences in brain-to-brain coupling patterns associated with autism.
